Treach from Naughty by Nature found himself in the middle of a police investigation on multiple shootings that took place throughout Newark, New Jersey during a 24-hour period.
The 37 year old rapper born Anthony Criss, was detained, questioned and released by police on April 22nd. Local police say that Treach was stopped after police heard gunshots and he had been caught driving his Hummer erratically. During the stop, they learned that Treach was wearing a bulletproof vest. The rapper had no weapons in the car but the police found a gun nearby.
After the gunfire ended, two men had shot and killed each other, a man and a woman were shot in the face, a third man was shot in the leg, one man was shot after bullets pierced his front door, and another man was shot in the foot.
Additionally, a 27-year-old man was arrested for shooting a police sergeant, as well as two other shootings that the man committed within a five minute time frame. Treach was given a fine for driving with a suspended license. A spokesman for Newark Police Department confirmed his release and admitted he was only "a potential witness" in the alleged shooting case.
