When it comes to being a shock jock on the radio, the controversial Star, of the famed Star & Bucwild Morning Show, has never been one to hold back his tongue. But a recent liver transplant has forced the radio host to become a bit more subdued.
"White Trash Helene and DX-21 have had to step it up on the mic," says Stars of his supporting players. "I haven't been able to be as vicious on the mic because I've been on medication."
So the hate will have to wait, until Star gets better that is. "They cut out half of my stomach," Star describes of the liver transplant, which was the result of what he says was "years of [alcohol] abuse." Since the surgery, Star has lost 76 lbs.
Back in January of this year, the Star & Bucwild Morning Show returned to the airwaves on Pulse 87.7, originally a Russian station that changed its format to Top 40 mainstream. The show had been on hiatus after Star made headlines for comments made about a rival DJ's family. The situation resulted in a suspension and then termination from Clear Channel, the parent company to New York's Power 105. Before that, the morning show had done time at another New York radio station, Hot 97.1. This time, however, Star is not only the voice behind the mic, but also a player behind the scenes at the station. He's looking forward to helping build the new station from the ground up, as soon as he is fully recovered from his surgery and not "throwing up in mid-sentence."
