Rollin' With Dre Book Party Turns Violent; One Man Dead

One man was killed and another one was injured Sunday morning (April 13) in Tukwila, Washington, after a party celebrating the release of Rollin With Dre turned violent.

According to the Seattle Times, authors Bruce Williams and Donnell Alexander appeared at the Southcenter Barnes & Noble in Tukwila, for a book signing event promoting the highly anticipated book, which provides an inside look at Dr. Dre’s life and the 10-years Williams spent as Dr. Dre’s confidant.

Later in the evening, an after party that was attended by several unnamed celebrities was hosted at a venue named Gordon’s on the Green, which is located on a city-owned golf course.

Police said shots rang out in the parking lot of the venue around 2:00 am yesterday morning. Dozens of police from nearby police departments rushed to the scene, where they found over 300 people were in the parking lot.

"When we first got there, there was panic — people were trying to care for the wounded, people were trying to get out of there, people were scared. It wasn't a healthy scene," Tukwila Police Department spokesman Michael Murphy said. "It took about 20 minutes to get everything calmed down."

A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.

Police said over 100 people followed the ambulance to the hospital, where they allegedly created a scene.

The 24-year-old man was pronounced dead, while the other man remains in critical condition.

"We don't know if the victims were involved in a fight or if they were ambushed or what. We just don't know yet," Murphy stated, adding that a number of witnesses refused to answer police officers questions.

Rollin With Dre hit stores last month via One World/Ballantine, a division of The Random House Publishing Group.
